Okay, so here’s the detox plan that I’m starting on the 1st:
Friday 1st – Thursday 7th
Quit eating beef, poultry and pork by Monday. Quit eating seafood by the end of the first week.
Get off the big five – caffeine*, alcohol, sugar**, wheat and dairy.
Load up on veggies*** especially broccoli, kale, collard greens, Brussels sprouts, bok choy, cabbage and artichokes since (these have detoxifying enzymes that boost the liver’s ability to detoxify).
Drink fruit and veggie drinks, especially freshly juiced foods.
Eat more soups and broths, especially homemade.
Add two tablespoons of ground flaxseed to your daily diet to aid daily bowel movements, and drink lots of purified water and tea throughout the day. Take a multivitamin and continue with regular exercise.
Friday 8th – Thursday 14th
Time to fast. This week will be about cleansing. During this week of no food, start drinking the lemon-cayenne pepper detox drink:
2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon
2 tablespoons of maple syrup
1/10th of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper (more or less to taste)
8 oz purified water (hot or cold)
It is recommended that you drink at least 6-8 glasses of this mixture per day during your fast, and constantly drink purified water as well.
Friday 15th – Thursday 21st
Begin to introduce fruit and veggie juices back into your diet on day 1. Actually juicing veggies is best, especially carrot and orange juices.
Day 2: Add soups and broths.
Day 3: Introduce solid foods back into your diet starting with fresh vegetables and ending with meats at the end of the week.
That’s it! Done! Easy! And here’s to staying healthy from here on out…
*Since caffeine is the hardest to quit, start with half caffeinated coffee and half decaf coffee, then go to black tea, green tea and finally herbal tea.
**Read labels to make sure nothing contains any sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, sucrose, fructose, dextrose, maltose, molasses, honey and/or maple syrup.
***To give veggies an extra boost, cook them with garlic and onions for super antioxidant power.
